Certified Cyber Solutions Built for the US Public Sector

When it comes to cybersecurity, government entities have a massive responsibility to ensure the safety of their organization’s and constituents’ data.

Different agencies and organizations within the public sector have specific regulations and guidelines concerning how data is secured and protected. Depending on your agency or department, your data may be subject to cryptography and information assurance requirements based on Department of Defense standards, data security protocols and procedures for Criminal Justice Information, privacy assurance guarantees in line with HIPAA rules for patient data, or military grade encryption standards set forth by the Federal Information Processing Standard.

Because we understand the US public sector is subject to some of the most stringent regulatory standards and requirements in the world, Acronis SCS has developed, tested, and certified two products – Acronis SCS Cyber Protect Cloud and Acronis SCS Hardened Backup – specifically to serve the cyber protection needs of the US’ most sensitive environments. Our products are an ideal solution for the challenge of trying to modernize cybersecurity without opening up new vulnerabilities in highly secure systems.

Dedicated to Serving the US Government

At Acronis SCS, the US government is our number one priority. As such, we have developed and certified our products to the highest levels of security possible to ensure data security across all public sector computing environments – including federal, state and local governments, education, healthcare, and nonprofit organizations. With DoDIN APL, Common Criteria, FIPS 140-2, CJIS, and HIPAA certifications and compliance coupled with 100% US-based support, Acronis SCS provides public sector entities the tested and trusted solutions they need to preserve secure operational assurance and timely decision-making in the environments where it matters most. You can rest assured that your data is safe with us.

The Department of Defense Information Network Approved Products List (DoDIN APL) serves as the single list of solutions authorized for use within DoD networks. The purpose of the list is to ensure every piece of equipment or software deployed within DoD’s network infrastructure is up to the task, both in terms of cybersecurity and interoperability. In passing DoD’s rigorous testing and evaluation process and earning this certification Acronis SCS Cyber Backup Hardened Edition proves itself to be a trusted solution for use across the Defense Department, other federal agencies, and public utilities. The certification includes requirements for cryptography, information assurance, CAC/PKI, IPv6, and UCR, as well as CS, SAR, and IO testing. Learn more about the DoDIN APL certification.

Common Criteria

The Common Criteria certification verifies that the Acronis SCS Cyber Backup 12.5 Hardened Edition follows the standards developed by NIAP, managed by NSA, and accepted by more than 30 countries. This certification ensures our product’s specification, implementation, and evaluation processes were developed in a thorough and comprehensive manner. This encompasses everything from cryptographic support, user data protection, security management, protection of the TSF to privacy and trusted paths/channels. FIPS 140-2

The Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 validation verifies that the cryptographic module utilized in both Acronis SCS Cyber Backup 12.5 Hardened Edition and Acronis SCS Cyber Protect Cloud have gone through rigorous testing and meets extensive requirements for military-grade encryption. This includes approved algorithms and cryptographic module specifications to protect the US public sector’s sensitive data. Maximum entropy is obtained with random number and key generation and before launch was reviewed and tested by government labs. Learn more about the FIPS certification.

Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance is what keeps professionals in criminal justice and law enforcement (at local, state, and federal levels) in agreement about standards for data security and encryption. Because Acronis SCS is dedicated to protecting all CJIS data including information for detaining criminals, performing background checks, and tracking criminal activity, we have made a point to ensure our Acronis SCS Cyber Protect Cloud is CJIS compliant – making our products accountable to the highest criminal justice specific data security and encryption standards possible.

While HIPAA compliance is not currently a requirement from the U.S Department of Health and Human Services (“HSS”), at Acronis SCS we want to do everything possible to ensure the data within your healthcare organization and that of your patients is fully protected. That is why we ensure Acronis SCS Cyber Protect Cloud is compliant with all terms outlined in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. This helps keep your patient data secure from cyber threats while remaining accessible to those who need it.

VPAT Section 508

The Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) evaluates how accessible a particular product, in our case software, is according to the Section 508 Standards of the Federal Rehabilitation Act. This includes accessibility requirements for information and communication technology (ICT). Any company that does business with the federal government and falls under Section 508 must become VPAT compliant.

Acronis SCS conducted third-party WCAG 2.1 Level AA testing to achieve VPAT compliance to make information accessible to people with disabilities. WCAG provides website accessibility guidelines, and 508 compliance is a federal and an ADA civil rights law.

NIST 800-171

The US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) promotes and maintains measurement standards and guidelines to help protect federal agencies’ information and information systems. In response to Executive Order 13556 on managing Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), it published NIST SP 800-171; Protecting Controlled Unclassified Information In Nonfederal Information Systems and Organizations. CUI is defined as digital and physical information created by a government (or an entity on its behalf) that, while not classified, is still sensitive and requires protection.

Any entity that processes or stores US government CUI — for example, research institutions, consulting companies, manufacturing contractors, must comply with the stringent requirements of NIST SP 800-171. Acronis SCS Cyber Protect Cloud is NIST 800-171 compliant and is a trusted solution for any organization processing or storing CUI.
